Long Distance FAQS
- Are there any monthly charges, monthly minimums, or hidden fees?
No, we bill you only for your actual usage and any applicable taxes.
- How long will it take to switch my long distance service?
Please allow 5-7 business days. There are exceptions, but most are completed within this time frame.
- How will I know when I've been switched over?
Please call our customer service toll free at (877) 312-5564, which is available 24 hours a day, every day.
- Do you credit switching fees?
Yes. Simply fax a copy of your local telephone bill containing the charges to our customer service at 1.800.822.4177 and a credit will appear on your next bill.
- What are the billing increments for Domestic calls?
Domestic calls are billed in 6 second increments with a 6 second minimum.
- Do I have to dial an access code when making a long distance call? e.g. 10-10
You do not have to dial an access code when making a long distance call just 1 the area code and the number.
- Is the 3.9 rate available when calling from cellular phones?
No, this rate is only available on land line phones.
- What billing options do you provide?
You can pay by check, by credit card, online via credit card, or you can have your account automatically billed each month to your credit card or checking account on a monthly basis.
In addition, you can receive a paper bill mailed to you each month or you can select our ebilling which allows you to login at anytime and review your account online. If you wish you can select both.
- If I have Prescient Worldwide as my long distance company, will this affect my ability to make local calls?
This change to Prescient Worldwide, will not affect your ability to make local calls. Your local telephone company will continue to carry your local calls.
- What are the billing increments for international calls?
International calls are billed in 30 second increments with a 6 second minimum. Mexico is billed in 60 second increments with a 60 second minimum.
- Where do I call if I have a service issue?
Our customer service department can be reached toll free at 1-877-312-5564 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

- What is VoIP?
VoIP, or "Voice over Internet Protocol" refers to the sending of voice and fax phone calls over data networks, particularly the Internet. This technology offers cost savings by making more efficient use of the existing network.
- Do both sides of a call need VoIP in order to make a call?
Absolutely not! VoIP is "transparent." Once in place, you don't need to do anything other than place calls just as do now.
- Is a phone call made over a VoIP network secure?
Yes. While sent over the VoIP network, all packets are sent securely.
- How stable is VoIP technology?
Very. It is based on the Internet Protocol, a proven, global standard.
- Will my company need any special phone equipment for Prescient Worldwide's VoIP solutions?
With Prescient Worldwide's VoIP offering, our customers can use their current phones and equipment. There is no need to purchase special phones.
- Where is Prescient Worldwide's VON service available?
Prescient Worldwide is able to deliver VoIP service worldwide, anywhere there is an Internet connection that supports the traffic. Whether your business is located in the US or internationally, we can deliver. However, it is the customer's responsibility to comply with their country's regulatory laws.
- What gateways are supported?
VoIP Termination is supported for most H323 and SIP compliant Gateways including Cisco, Quintum, Multi-Tech and many others.
- What CODEC's do you support?
Prescient Worldwide supports all major CODEC's including mast variations of G723, G729 and G711.
- Do I have to register to a Gatekeeper?
Gatekeeper registration is preferred by Prescient Worldwide for redundancy, optimization of network resources, to facilitate maintenance and mitigate downtime. If you cannot register to a Gatekeeper, please contact us to discuss alternate configurations.
- What are the payment terms?
All termination and origination services are strictly prepaid.
- How may I make payments?
Prescient Worldwide accepts Wire Transfer, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Checks. Service delivery may be delayed until funds are cleared.
